Spooky!

I find it kind of weird that ONE DAY after posting the last entry, I get an email from Mackin (the main publisher we order from) that, HOLY COW! some of my order is on the way!

...but...it's only been 3 weeks...!

Not all of them, as expected, but 13 of them anyway. AND THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE BY THE END OF THE DAY, TODAY!

It's like Christmas up in here.

Let me briefly explain this though. Mackin is a great publisher. They have a lot of perks and pluses that they do for their customers, that makes my job a tad bit easier. They keep track of books I've bought, give me recommendations based on what we have on our shelves, they can even tell me where our library could use some updates and such. As a bonus, for a few pennies more, they do something called 'Mackinbound' books. I can order a book, and they will bind it with their special magic binding, and then they guarantee it for life. If the spine cracks, or the book breaks, etc, I just have to call them up and tell them their book broke, and they send me a new one. The downside is, that it can take up to 4 weeks minimum for the whole process to happen. So, the fact that some of the books arriving today are Mackinbound books, AND They're arriving BEFORE 4 weeks is pretty phenomenal.

Yes, I realize I'm probably the only one in shock and awe about that. It's ok. I let my geek flag fly high.

Here's what's coming...and it's a lot of graphic novels.

Dear Evan Hanson

SYNOPSIS:

"Dear Evan Hansen,

Today's going to be an amazing day and here's why..."

When a letter that was never meant to be seen by anyone draws high school senior Evan Hansen into a family's grief over the loss of their son, he is given the chance of a lifetime: to belong. He just has to stick to a lie he never meant to tell, that the notoriously troubled Connor Murphy was his secret best friend.

Suddenly, Evan isn't invisible anymore--even to the girl of his dreams. And Connor Murphy's parents, with their beautiful home on the other side of town, have taken him in like he was their own, desperate to know more about their enigmatic son from his closest friend. As Evan gets pulled deeper into their swirl of anger, regret, and confusion, he knows that what he's doing can't be right, but if he's helping people, how wrong can it be?

No longer tangled in his once-incapacitating anxiety, this new Evan has a purpose. And a website. He's confident. He's a viral phenomenon. Every day is amazing. Until everything is in danger of unraveling and he comes face to face with his greatest obstacle: himself.

A simple lie leads to complicated truths in this big-hearted coming-of-age story of grief, authenticity and the struggle to belong in an age of instant connectivity and profound isolation.

Into the Wild - Warriors Bk. 1

SYNOPSIS:

For generations, four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by their warrior ancestors. But the ThunderClan cats are in grave danger, and the sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day. Noble warriors are dying-- and some deaths are more mysterious than others. In the midst of this turmoil appears an ordinary house cat named Rusty . . . who may turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.

Forbidden Brides of the Faceless Slaves in the Secret House of the Dread Desire

SYNOPSIS:

A celebrated send-up of gothic literature, beautifully adapted into a dark, brooding, and oddly comical graphic novel. Somewhere in the night, a raven caws, an author's pen scratches, and thunder claps. The author wants to write fiction: stories about frail women in white nightgowns, mysterious bumps in the night, and the undead rising to collect old debts. But he keeps getting interrupted by the everyday annoyances of talking ravens, duels to the death, and his sinister butler.
